Aug 2016 – Present
The Specialist Endodontic Practice, 70 Grand Parade, Worthing, East Sussex
I work 2 days per week as an associate in practice limited to endodontics. My principal is Mr Michael Seare, BDS, MSc (Specialist in Endodontics)
Aug 2014 – Present
South Down Dental Clinic
I work Saturday mornings in a referral practice, taking referrals for endodontics and some restorative dentistry.
April 2013 – June 2016
Associate in Integrated Dental Care, 1 Manor Place Edinburgh, EH3 7DH
I work 3 days per week in private general practice in Edinburgh. The practice is amalgam-free and there is a strong emphasis on minimally invasive treatments. I also take referrals for endodontic treatment from colleagues in Edinburgh.
May 2011 – February 2013
Associate in Advance Dental Care, 3a Jinglers Court, Banbridge, BT32 3YJ
I had responsibility for the treatment planning and management of complex restorative cases.
I undertook all the in-house root canal therapy and established a referral list of dental practitioners.
Approximately 30% of my work was endodontics, undertaken by referral.
Jan 2008 – April 2011
Advance Dental Care
During this period I established a private general practice.
I took on a partner with an interest in surgical dentistry and implantology and restored implants placed by my partner.
I sold my partnership share in April 2011 and became an associate in order to concentrate on postgraduate education and the development of my interest in endodontics
June 2001-December 2007
Sole Practitioner, 3a Jinglers Court, Banbridge, BT32 3YJ
I started a squat NHS practice in Banbridge, Co. Down; a town of approximately 15,000 people. Banbridge was, at the time, well served by NHS dentists. The practice built steadily over the first 2-3 years and became busy after this period. Having tried many options for building the patient base, I found word-of-mouth recommendation to be, by far, the most effective.
By 2011, the practice was booked 13 weeks in advance and limited for space. I had established a significant private patient base alongside the NHS list and felt that neither my NHS patients nor my private patients were receiving the service I would have like to provide. At this point I took the decision to leave the NHS completely.
January 2000-May 2001
Locum dentist in Northern Ireland
May 1999-December 1999
Locum dentist Australia
During this period I worked for 2 months in the public hospital in Bundaberg, Queensland.
After this I worked in private practice at 2 Larapinta Drive, Alice Springs, Northern Territory.
Working in private practice in Australia gave me the opportunity to practise dentistry to a standard I had not been capable of previously. I found the experience thoroughly rewarding and gained a great deal of knowledge from the principal, Dr. Justin O’Loughlin.

Interests
I am a former rugby union player, having represented Ireland at Under 21 level. I played senior rugby for Ballymena RFC up until 2000. My participation is now limited to the role of enthusiastic fan.
I keep fit with weight-training twice weekly and using my rowing machine regularly.
I enjoy being outdoors, whether it is working on my small farm or hill-walking in the Mourne Mountains.
On the farm, I keep sheep, rare breed cattle and pigs.
